Introduction
A mini-tummy tuck is a procedure that will remove excess fat and skin from around the waist and removes excess skin to leave a flatter, lower body profile and younger-looking abdomen. This is similar to a full abdominoplasty but the navel does not need re-positioning.
What does the mini tummy tuck surgery involve?
In the "mini tuck" technique the skin is separated only between the incision line and the navel. This skin flap is pulled down and any excess is removed and the flap of skin is stitched back into place leaving a flatter and more toned abdomen.
How long does the mini tummy tuck surgery take?
Mini tummy tucks need take only an hour or two but extended treatments might involve a hospital stay it will depend on each individual patient.
What will happen in the recovery period?
Following surgery you will experience some swelling or bruising of the abdomen. This should diminish within a day or two. Your stitches will dissolve and support bandages/garments will be worn around the area and you will have follow-up visits in the months after surgery to check on your progress.
What is the recovery time?
Each patient is individual however after this procedure patients often resume normal activity in only a few days. You should be able to return to work within a couple of weeks. A light exercise program will help you heal better but vigorous exercise should be avoided until you can do them without any discomfort.
What can I expect from the mini tummy tuck surgery?
You have to be realistic in your expectations. A tummy tuck normally produces excellent results and the effects of a tummy tuck are generally long lasting provided you follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly.
