Introduction
Isolagen represents a highly significant advance in the long-term reduction of facial lines, wrinkles and scars for both men and women; it is the only process which actually replenishes your skin with new and vibrant living cells. Isolagen is safe and has proven to be one of the longest lasting treatments available today for facial lines, wrinkles, scars and acne scarring.
How does it work?
By using your own collagen producing cells which harvested and grown in a laboratory. These cells are re-injected into the treatment area and produce new collagen, therefore gently reviving your skin's natural elasticity and volume. Isolagen restores skin's natural elasticity and provides a natural foundation for long-lasting beautiful skin.
What areas can be treated?
Isolagen is most commonly used in the treatment of facial lines, frown lines, nasolabial lines, and perioral lines. It is also used for scars & facial rejuvenation.
How is the treatment performed?
A small skin biopsy is taken from behind the ear under local anaesthetic, which is then specially packaged and sent to the Isolagen laboratories. Collagen producing cells (fibroblasts) are extracted and the cell culture process provides millions of new ones. After about eight weeks a sufficient number of the patient's cells are ready for return to the clinic for injection into the treatment area. The new cells are then re-injected into the treatment area and these cells will reactivate the body's natural production of collagen to give the treated skin a new firmness and elasticity.
How long will the treatment take?
The Isolagen treatment typically requires four appointments of approximately 30 minutes duration. These appointments include consultation, biopsy, first session re-introducing cultured cells, second session re-introducing cultured cells and then the final introduction of cultured cells.
Are there any side effects?
The risk of allergic reaction or side effects is very rare since the cultured cells are produced from your own body’s cells, however there will be an initial slight reddening around the treatment area but this will usually disappear within 24–48 hours of treatment. There may also be minimal bruising from the injections.
